Privacy Policy for BoardFootCalculator.io
Effective date: April 17, 2026
Who we are
Our website address is: https://boardfootcalculator.io.
We provide a free online board foot calculator tool. This privacy policy explains how we handle data when you use our site — now and as we grow.
What data we collect and when
Using the calculator
- The calculator itself processes only the numbers you enter (length, width, thickness, quantity). This calculation happens entirely in your browser. We do not store, transmit, or see the numbers you enter.
Comments (if and when enabled)
We do not currently allow comments, but may add this feature in the future (e.g., on blog posts). If and when comments are enabled:
When visitors leave comments, we collect:
- The data shown in the comments form
- The visitor’s IP address
- Browser user agent string (to help spam detection)
An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media uploads
We do not currently allow image or media uploads. If this changes in the future (e.g., for blog contributors), we will update this policy.
If uploads become enabled, we will advise users to avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors could otherwise download and extract location data from images on the site.
Contact forms
We do not currently have contact forms. If we add one, we will update this policy to state what data is collected and how long it is retained.
Cookies
Current (calculator-only mode)
We do not set any cookies for normal calculator usage. The calculator works without storing any information on your device.
Future (if comments or user accounts are added)
Comment cookies: If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you don’t have to re-enter details for future comments. These cookies last for one year.
Login cookies: If we add user accounts and you visit a login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will set cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
Editor cookies: If you edit or publish an article (e.g., a blog post), an additional cookie will be saved. It contains no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you edited. It expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles or future blog posts on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you visited that other website directly.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
Currently: We share no personal data with any third parties because we collect none through the calculator.
Future (if user accounts and password resets are added): If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
We may use an automated spam detection service (e.g., Akismet) for future comments.
How long we retain your data
Currently: We retain no personal data from calculator users.
Future (if comments or user accounts are added):
- Comments: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
- Registered users: For users who register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
Currently: Since we collect no personal data through the calculator, there is no data to export or erase.
Future (if you have an account or have left comments): You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Currently: Nowhere.
Future: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (such as Akismet). That service may receive the comment content, IP address, and email address.
Children’s privacy
Our site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this privacy policy as we add new features (like a blog, comments, or user accounts). The “Effective date” at the top will reflect the last change. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
